Health and Safety
I will deal with the wires in the studio by making sure that they are all placed in a good place, I had to make sure that they were not tangled up and then we taped them down so no one would fall over them. Also I must tell people that I have taped them down so they don't move the wires.
This week I chose what song I wanted to record. The song i'm going to record is payphone by Maroon 5. The equipment I will be using is one microphone, drums, headphones, a phone connected to a speaker so the performer can hear the song, a pop shield to preventing popping and also a mic to talk to each other. The sessions I will record first will be drums. Drums are an important part of the song and I will need to get it done first to set the pace of the piece. The session will be about 30-40 minutes. However multiple things could go wrong, for instance the drums could get to loud so I would have to move the mic further away from the drum kit. (new week) I have recorded the drums section with keira, however at the beginning I have a large section of silence I will have to cut out soon. The session took about 35 minutes.
The second session will be guitar. In this session we used the same equipment except the drums, we also used a stand to hold up the cords for the performer. The guitar is also a vital part of the piece and will needed to be recorded secondly so it adds a layer of the song you need because it will add a rhythm to go with the drums that has been recorded. (next week) I have recorded the guitar section and it went well I just need to do the vocal. This session took about 30 minutes.
This week I have to record the vocals for the recording. There could be a few problems though, for example the mic could be to quiet or to far away. To counter this I will have to check the sound before we record the final piece. For this session I will be using the same equipment as before but the guitar. (next week) I have got the vocals recorded for the piece. The sound was ok and we only had to do it over once. What could've gone better is that it would have been better if he was a bit louder but other than that it was good. This session took about 30 minutes. The file I saved this work in was BTEC Music, yr 11,
I have recorded all the pieces of the recording, I recorded them all over three different lessons. I did it this way because the people playing the parts learnt their sections at different times. I have finished recording all the parts of the song.
